As for his training, he completed the triple residency program in pediatrics, general psychiatry & child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic of UPMC Presbyterian Shadyside, and Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

Focused on the health and well-being of his patients, the doctor is board-certified in general psychiatry, child and adolescent psychiatry & adult psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.

A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, he is also board-certified in pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). Prior to transitioning to CMC, Dr. Ortiz-Aguayo spent the last 15 years in clinical and leadership positions and as faculty at two of the most prestigious Children's Hospitals in the country (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh).

His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (Distinguished Fellow), the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (Fellow), the American Association for Physician Leadership, and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration Office of Pediatric Therapeutics.
