Non-surgical spinal decompression is a revolutionary new technology used primarily to treat disc injuries in the neck and lower back. Spinal decompression works by gently stretching the spine with the goal of relieving pain and promoting an optimal healing environment for herniated, bulging and degenerating discs.
Decompression has shown the ability to gently separate the vertebrae from each other, creating a vacuum inside the discs that are targeted. This “vacuum effect” known as negative intra-discal pressure changes the force and position of the spine to take pressure off discs, the gel-like cushions between the bones of the spine. As a result, herniated and bulging discs may retract, taking pressure off nerves in the spine.
Dr. Gordon explains that the process happens only microscopically each time, but cumulatively, over four to eight weeks, the healing results are quite dramatic. Dr. Gordon adds “Over 90% of our patients have achieved excellent results after spinal decompression and have not had to undergo surgery”.
Dr. Gordon reports that non-surgical spinal decompression has been very effective at treating herniated discs, bulging discs, sciatica, pinched nerves, radiating arm pain, degenerative disc disease, leg & foot pain, and chronic upper & lower back pain.

Dr. Gordon explains the difference between a herniated and a bulging disc. A herniated disc develops a crack in the outer layer of the disc allowing its soft inner material to rupture out of the disc. A bulging disc is different in that, the disc simply bulges outside the space normally occupied between the vertebrae. A bulging disc affects a much larger part of the disc than a herniated disc. Bulging discs are more common than a herniated disc, with herniated discs being more painful.
Dr. Gordon adds that bulging discs are fairly common in both young adults and older people. As a disc bulges out between the vertebrae and presses against a nerve, there will be symptoms in whatever part of the body the affected nerve serves. Some symptoms of a bulging disc may include pain, numbness, and muscle weakness or tingling in the legs and arms… whereas a herniated disc can include pain that feels like it’s coming from the abdomen or heart.
Corner Canyon Health & Wellness utilizes some of the latest innovations in non-surgical spinal decompression therapy, designed to maximize comfort while significantly reducing nerve irritability and pain resulting from chronic disc injuries.
